Thank you for taking the time to identify your background information requested below by the GNO STEM Membership Committee. Our objective is to more clearly identify the background of our board members in order to both highlight the current skills of our board and to determine where holes might exist in order to more specifically target potential new board members. We appreciate all that you do for GNO STEM!

Through the generosity of several sponsors and a partnership with the STEM Library Lab, the GNOSEF is able to offer a limited number materials & equipment requests (up to $200/teacher) to students to help fund materials and/or equipment to complete their research. After GNOSEF Scientific Review Committee approval, all requested materials for the 2025 GNOSEF will be provided through the STEM Library Lab, and funding will NOT be provided directly to the teacher, school, or students. The STEM Library Lab will enable students and/or teachers to borrow equipment and will also provide the consumables necessary to complete their project. All unused consumables will need to be returned to the STEM Library Lab (i.e. unused parts of kits, unused batteries, and unused chemicals). A parent and/or teacher will need to accompany the students to pick up the supplies at the STEM Library Lab. Curbside pick up is available. Interested students should complete the online form found here. Once your request is approved by the GNOSEF, instructions will be provided with directions regarding creating an account with the STEM Library Lab (if your teacher does not already have one) and acquiring your consumable and equipment request.

Teachers must submit the below GNOSEF Prior Approval Form for each project that needs prior approval. In addition to submitting the below form, one file (for each project) with all required forms needs to be uploaded on box.com with the naming convention LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_REASONFORPRIORAPROVAL.pdf where LASTNAME is the student’s last name, FIRSTNAME is the student’s first name, and REASONFORPRIORAPPROVAL is the reason for prior approval (HUMANSUBJECTS, VERTEBRATEANIMALS, PHBA, HAZARDOUSCHEMICALS, or OTHER).

Please do not submit more than one project’s documents in a file, as projects are reviewed by different members of the SRC depending upon the reason prior approval has been requested.  Instructions for uploading documents to box.com are here.

PROJECTS REQUESTING PRIOR APPROVAL MUST BE SUBMITTED BY OCTOBER 11, 2024 TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE 2025 GNOSEF. FINAL APPROVAL OF ALL PRIOR APPROVAL PROJECTS NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED BY DECEMBER 4, 2024.

School Science Fair Sponsors must fill out and submit an Affiliation Form in order for that school to be eligible to send students to the GNOSEF. This provides information for important future correspondence and for facility planning for the GNOSEF event. By affiliating, the school agrees to follow all of the rules of the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair. This form must be submitted by October 1, 2025.
