The Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair is hosting a science and engineering teacher professional development workshop:
Inspiring Innovation: A Practical Workshop for Generating Student Science Fair Projects
Join the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (GNOSEF) for a hands-on workshop designed to help educators guide students in developing quality science fair projects. This session will cover key timelines, teacher incentives and awards, idea development, and effective strategies for organizing a successful school-based science fair.
Participants will explore the two primary project types—experimental and engineering—with an emphasis on idea generation, research planning, and student engagement.
The workshop will include a focused look at designing projects, including the engineering design process, methods to spark innovative ideas, and sample projects. Attendees will also learn how to support experimental projects through identifying variables, and collecting meaningful data.
Through real project examples and practical resources—including STEM Library materials, GNOSEF support systems, and graduate student mentorship—teachers will leave equipped to foster student success!
Date & Time:
